ROLES

Senior OTT Platform Engineer 

London-based applicants only. This role requires regular commuting to our office on Gray’s Inn Road, near Chancery Lane.

We’re looking for an experienced and capable Senior OTT Platform Engineer to help build and manage Hibou’s OTT platform. This is a key technical role for someone who combines strong engineering expertise with practical delivery, and who is comfortable working across platform architecture, backend development, deployment, infrastructure, and live operational support.
You’ll play an important part in supporting the platform through build, launch and ongoing management, helping to ensure it is reliable, scalable and fit for purpose. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working across the full platform lifecycle, and contributing to the development of an ambitious digital media product.

🌟 What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who can work confidently across multiple technical areas, collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and bring strong judgement to a growing platform. You will bring:

Significant experience as a senior full-stack, backend, or platform engineer, ideally within streaming, media, SaaS, or digital product environments
Strong experience designing and supporting platform architecture for consumer-facing digital products
Excellent backend development skills, including APIs, databases, authentication, permissions, and system integrations
Hands-on experience with deployment, cloud infrastructure, hosting environments, monitoring, backups, and platform reliability
Confidence managing live technical issues, debugging production problems, and improving system stability and performance
A practical understanding of OTT or content platforms, including video delivery, user access, content management, and platform administration
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work calmly under pressure
Strong judgement and the ability to balance delivery timelines, quality, cost, and technical risk
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical decisions clearly and collaborate with non-technical teams
A high level of ownership, initiative and professionalism, with the ability to manage priorities effectively
London-based and willing to commute regularly to our Gray’s Inn Road office near Chancery Lane

 

🎬 What You’ll Work On
In this role, you will:

Support the build and ongoing management of Hibou’s OTT platform from development through launch and live operation
Help define and maintain the overall platform architecture, ensuring the system is scalable, reliable and fit for purpose
Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, integrations, and core platform functionality
Oversee deployment processes, cloud infrastructure, hosting environments, and operational workflows
Monitor platform health, respond to live issues, and troubleshoot production problems as they arise
Improve performance, resilience, security, and technical reliability across the platform
Support content, access, and administrative systems required to operate the OTT service effectively
Work closely with internal creative and product stakeholders to translate business needs into practical technical solutions
Advise on technical priorities, delivery planning, and platform decisions
Contribute to ensuring the platform can be built, launched, and managed successfully over time

Senior Programming Manager

London-based applicants only. This role requires regular commuting to our office on Gray’s Inn Road, near Chancery Lane.

We’re looking for an experienced and capable Senior Programming Manager to help shape Hibou’s content strategy. This is a key programming role for someone who combines strong editorial judgement with practical delivery, and who is comfortable working across programming, curation, licensing, content planning, and audience-focused platform strategy.
You’ll play an important part in building Hibou’s content identity, supporting the platform through launch and growth, and helping ensure that our programming is distinctive, compelling and aligned with our wider ambitions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys discovering and championing great content, working across the full programming lifecycle, and contributing to the development of an ambitious digital media platform.

 

🌟 What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who can work confidently across multiple content and commercial areas, collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and bring strong judgement to a growing platform. You will bring:

Social media fluency, with the ability to justify and communicate programming choices to audiences across digital platforms, and a strong mental library of films, filmmakers and references to inform both editorial strategy and audience engagement

Significant experience in programming, acquisitions, curation, licensing, distribution, or content strategy, ideally within film, television, streaming, or digital platform environments
Strong editorial judgement and a clear understanding of how to build a distinctive and engaging content offer for audiences
Experience working with rights holders, distributors, producers, filmmakers, sales agents, or content partners
Good understanding of programming strategy for audience-facing platforms, including how content supports growth, retention, and brand positioning
Confidence assessing titles for platform suitability and curating content that aligns with editorial ambitions and audience needs
Experience managing content budgets and helping ensure resources are allocated strategically
A practical understanding of the OTT, SVOD, or digital distribution landscape in the UK and internationally
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work calmly under pressure
Strong judgement and the ability to balance editorial ambition, audience needs, budget, and commercial priorities
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to represent Programming internally and externally and collaborate with cross-functional teams
A high level of ownership, initiative and professionalism, with the ability to manage priorities effectively

🎬 What You’ll Work On
In this role, you will:

Help shape and lead Hibou’s programming strategy in line with editorial, audience, and growth objectives
Create and maintain programming plans, curation strategies, and supporting documentation across monthly, quarterly, and longer-term cycles
Build and maintain relationships with rights holders, distributors, filmmakers, producers, festivals, and other key industry contacts
Source, assess, and help secure content opportunities for the platform, including library titles, premieres, and distinctive editorial propositions
Support licensing discussions and deal progression in collaboration with internal and external partners
Manage the content pipeline and inventory, identifying opportunities for future programming and platform growth
Curate titles and collections that reflect Hibou’s editorial vision and help establish a clear platform identity
Work closely with marketing and wider internal stakeholders to ensure programming is presented effectively and reaches the right audiences
Track performance and engagement, using data and audience insight to inform programming decisions over time
Conduct research into market trends, industry activity, audience behaviour, and the competitive landscape
